NCPERS Calls on Pension Funds to Comment on Proposed Changes to Accounting and Financial Reporting Standards

The National Conference on Public Employee Retirement Systems ("NCPERS") has released the following bulletin:

 

NCPERS has developed an online tool to help our members draft individualized written responses to the Government Accounting Standards Board’s (GASB) Preliminary Views (PV) on possible changes to pension accounting and financial reporting standards.  GASB’s PV proposes a number of significant changes that if adopted would negatively impact public pensions. 

 

GASB’s decision to issue the proposed changes as a PV document signals that they expect disagreement and are interested in comments.  Consequently, this is an opportune time to respond to GASB on these issues.

 

NCPERS encourages ALL our members to review the PV and submit written responses to GASB by the September 17, 2010 deadline.  The online tool is a one-stop-shop to get background information, view the PV document, and draft your organization’s written response.  It’s fast and easy!
